ABOUT JOAN ÉLAN DAVIS

Joan élan Davis is an established artist who exhibits in national museum shows, gallery exhibitions and solo exhibitions nationally as well as internationally. Joan's paintings have been included in good company with artists such as Jennifer Bartlett, Mary Cassat, Lee Krasner, Henri Matisse and Chagall. Davis formally trained in Long Island New York and Silvermine, Connecticut and now resides in San Francisco and Incline Village, Lake Tahoe. It is her surroundings and experiences as a parent and friend that mostly provides the emotion and energy from which her paintings draw their inspiration. Every floral form symbolizes a person or emotion, every brush stroke the mood of a healing uplifting experience in life. The great outdoors and seasonal changes also play a strong role in the palettes she selects for her composition. Davis' artistic styles vary from soft floral to graphic, from linear to curvilinear, on canvas and on paper.

For the Autism for Comedy show, Joan has selected key works from six of her stylized collections. Images vary in size and style but all are original signature pieces from the artist. Davis also runs an art and design company called Joan Davis Art Studios offering designers and architects a wonderful one stop selection of paintings. Recently, Joan Davis Art Studios also licenses designs to major companies such as Costco, Z Gallery, and more. Her paintings are included in major hotel collections such as the Ritz Carlton and corporate and private collections including Chevron Energy Solutions, Paul and Nancy Pelosi and many many more. Davis is currently installing a collection of her paintings as an interactive piece at the Incline Village Hospital waiting room to help reduce stress and offer healing powers.

On a personal note, Joan is a mother of two children, one of which suffered from mercury poisoning in 2003. Joan's child's story was featured on page one of the Wall Street Journal that August, and she was interviewed on PBS, TBS, radio, documentaries and more. After finding the source of the poisoning was from canned tuna, Joan and her family pursued herbal remedies and vigorous exercise over a one year period to remove toxins. Her child is now 17 and a strong high school student and talented actor with short films and over 200 stage shows under his belt including principal roles in a professional Shakespeare troupe. It is this artists hope that the money the art sales raise can help even one family through the pain of autism and provide works of art in homes and offices that offer the power to heal.
